Friday Harbor, which alone has the population of all of Lopez Island, is a bustling and interesting town: a jumble of buildings, brightly painted and historical, cling to the steep hill fronting Friday Harbor's downtown area, most of them turn of the 19th century wood frame.

| Ten miles north, you'll find the historic resort of Roche Harbor, once a bustling lime kiln industry. Today Roche Harbor is primarily known to boaters, who converge on the sprawling marina in huge numbers in the summer months. |
